Gout and arthritis are very painful conditions for one to have but, what actually is "gout"? Gout is a condition which results from an excessive level of uric acid in the circulation. High levels of uric acid may lead to it precipitating as microscopic, needle-like crystals in joint areas. These crystals can incite a significant inflammatory reaction called acute gouty arthritis. Acute attacks can last a few days to a few weeks and usually there are long periods between attacks.
Mostly, joints become painful, swollen and can feel red hot over a short time.
Sometimes, more than one joint or, soft tissue can be affected.
The crystals can also start to cause trouble elsewhere, these sometimes being stones in the kidneys.
When going to see the doctor you may have to have blood or, joint fluid samples taken to assess the uric acid level present in your body. Uric acid is a substance, which is, produced by the body as a breakdown of old body cells, and from foods we eat. Most of it leaves the body via the kidneys, in the urine.
People can get gout as a result of something being wrong with the chemical processes of their bodies. It is said that, this can be inherent from parents and, grandparents.
Some people have problems with uric acid over-production, whereas, some people have problems with uric acid expulsion.
It has been found however, that cherries can help alleviate the pain and, swelling caused by these high levels of uric acid. The cherries in question are the ruby-red Montmorency tart cherry variety. This type of cherry is said to be more effective than the normal variety of sweet cherries. Montmorency cherries are richer in anthocyanins which are key components with this type of cherry, and, why it is effective in maintaining uric acid at healthy levels.
There have been many reports about this and, quite a few write-ups in regard to what benefits these type of cherries have in respect to, alleviating the pain and other discomforts associated with gout. All which can be found through search on the internet and books online.
There are also, certain supplements which can be bought from certain health food and, vitamin store suppliers. The supplements of this type of cherry can be found in capsule form or, a drink which is mainly then diluted.
A lot of people have been amazed at the positive impact on their health since taking these kinds of supplements and, have had a distinct notice of this between 3-6 months.
The supplements have also been said to reduce heart disease and, stroke. People that don’t sleep very well are also said to benefit from the cherry supplements and, can help promote healthy, natural sleep patterns.
